Beyond Borders
Beyond Borders is an international art consortium dedicated to showcasing the work of writers, intellectuals, artists and filmmakers who come from small nations around the world. Beyond Borders aims to offer a platform for artists from similar smaller nations to explore common themes and experiences, especially in relation to those nations and peoples who are or have been caught up in conflict.
Working across seven different mediums including literature, music, theatre visual arts, heritage, film, sport, and dialogue and are running cultural projects in relation to these mediums during the Edinburgh Festival in August in 2010. These events are scheduled to take place in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and in the Scottish Borders at Traquair House.
Second Variety undertook the development of the website at breakneck speed while Magpie Studio delivered the print and web design for the site. Built using our favourite CMS, WordPress, and our favourite framework, Thematic, we used the latest features of the WordPress 3 to deliver a theme that uses Post Thumbnails and Custom Post Types to make it simple and quick to administer this events site. Now we’re looking forward to spending some time in Edinburgh this coming August to enjoy the festival! Its the inaugural festival and promises to to leave a lasting legacy.
Meanwhile we have promised to be there to help Beyond Borders evolve their website in the years to come.
