Senzala London
Senzala London is a Capoeira group affiliated with one of the longest running organisations both inside and outside of Brazil. Erez and I both play Capoeira with Julio Sanhaco and at his request we gave the site an overhaul to take advantage of Wordpress’s numerous features. The site was built using the Sandbox Theme Framework and a customised version of Themememe’s Aperio Prototype Theme. Users can take advantage of their Facebook accounts to sign in and leave comments on the news and events posts.
We plan to add more media including video and audio and a special members area with downloadable resources. On the Facebook side we are experimenting with the API and the more we learn the more features we’ll add so that users can have a richer and more engaging experience. In the future the site will act as both a link for the group and as a portal for general Capoeira information and events in the UK.
It was put together in less than a week on a low budget and demonstrates how fast we can develop a basic brochure style site from pre-existing themes and plugins.
