Where Next?
We like to think we’re always moving forward. Everything is progression. One year ago Second Variety only existed in thought. Now what began as an opportunity for two long time friends to work for themselves is slowly becoming a successful development company. We help other people use the web and web technologies to help them take advantage of opportunities that they have seen. With each new job we attempt to gain experience in a new area of the web, not by accident but by design.
The web is constantly evolving. It is perhaps the greatest expression of humanity reflecting all aspects of our nature good and bad. Navigating this world and showing others how to use it, add to it, enhance it and take advantage of it is what we are aiming for. For now this means developing websites and applications but we see Second Variety evolving beyond this. Over the coming months we will be launching our own applications – some will be related to building websites and others will be in completely new areas that interest us and the partners we work with.
What does this mean for you? Well it means that we’ll be developing some WordPress functionality and plugins which we shall release to the community in due course. It also means we will be looking for projects that interest us personally as well as professionally so we will be working in collaboration with other WordPress developers to further specific plugins and features.
Mobile devices and augmented reality applications are areas that interest us and over the course of this year we will be working towards launching our first fully accessible mobile website/application for one of our clients. With 338 million mobile internet users in China alone, increasing by 800,000 a week, it is a space we definitely want to be working on in the future.
In short we won’t stop moving forward so those people who are working on common goals will be able to benefit from our work. We are Second Variety and the work we do is second to none.
